Our Story

Café Studio Home began with a long-held belief: spaces hold stories.
Born from Cafe Studio in New York – a place shaped by light, objects, and gatherings – the brand grew from years of working closely with environments and the emotions they carry. A room is never empty. It holds presence, memory, and traces of the people who pass through it. Cafe Studio Home is shaped by the quiet feeling that makes a space feel like home and memory.

The first scent was created a few years ago – made for a space that could not find a fragrance that truly belonged to it. It was not developed simply to scent a room, but to create presence – the calm before the day begins, the warmth that lingers after conversation, the familiar trace that remains when everything is still.

Scent, like space, carries memory. It marks moments gently, without asking for attention. Inspired by stories of homes and lived spaces – the ones we grow up in, the ones we build, the ones we remember long after we've left – Cafe Studio Home creates home fragrances designed to become part of everyday life. Part of rituals, gatherings, and quiet evenings alone. Not to overwhelm a room, but to belong within it.

It is about feeling.
About memory carried through air.
About the subtle presence that turns space into home.

Shu Tan

Shu Tan is a curator and creative designer based in New York, and co-founder of Café Studio.

Her work centers on shaping spaces – from interiors to studios – creating environments where artists, photographers, and brands come together to make work. Through years of collaborating with creative teams, curating exhibitions, and designing spatial experiences, a deeper sensitivity developed toward what makes a room feel complete. Not just how it looks, but how it holds people, light, and movement.

In working alongside artists and photographers, one idea remained constant: the feeling of a space influences everything created within it.

Café Studio Home began with two of Shu's greatest passions: living spaces and scent.
